Using ethnographic research conducted while attending practices, games, and social functions of teams from across the nation, Jeffress builds a strong case that electric wheelchair users deserve more opportunity to play sports. They deserve it because they need the same physical and psychosocial benefits from participation as their peers, who have full use of their arms and legs. A worthy book on an important topic.

Although published by an academic press, this book is very accessible and has a nice narrative quality about it, which all good works of ethnography should have. This book is the only one to my knowledge on the subject of power soccer, which is an adaptive sport played by powered wheelchair users. It is very well researched and written. The author is a professor at Nicholls State University and the parent of a power soccer athlete himself, and the book is dedicated to his son, who passed away from muscular dystrophy, and two other athletes whose lives were cut short by the same disease. While the author definitely has a voice in this text, I appreciate the fact that he really showcases the athletes and allows readers to "meet" them and hear their voices throughout the text. There are even several pages of photos, which is a nice touch. Those who are fortunate enough to have this text assigned in a class or just decide to buy a copy and read it for themselves will find themselves experiencing a gamut of emotions. The narrative, although bordering on melodrama at times, is quite gripping. Some of the quotes from those who were interviewed for the book will make readers smile, some laugh, some cry, and still others angry and motivated to do more to affirm the dignity of people with physical disabilities and support efforts like power soccer. The only real negatives about the book are the price and a few typos here and there that made it through the copy editing. I purchased the hardcover and was able to get it at a discounted price direct from the publisher. Hopefully, this book will get a wide reading and be released in a paperback and get a cheaper Kindle price when that happens. I realize Ashgate is an academic press and this book is part of a series of books in its Interdisciplinary Disability Studies, but $105 for the HC and $84 for the Kindle will probably restrict its circulation to a few college classes. This is unfortunate, because this book deserves to be widely read.

Norman, CPP, PSP, CSC, is an internationally acclaimed security risk management and enterprise-class security system design consultant with experience in the United States, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Mr. Norman has experience in security designs for critical infrastructure including oil and gas terminals, lines, and distribution centers; mass transit and vehicle transportation systems including air security, rail, and marine facilities and systems; long-span suspension and truss bridges; and central banking, utility and financial facilities. Mr. Norman’s extended experience includes a large number of chemical, petrochemical, banking, government, corporate facilities, hospitality, healthcare, venues, and museums.

Mr. Norman’s unique processes focus on identifying and securing the underlying causes of building system vulnerabilities, that is, business processes, technologies, and cultures that encourage the development of vulnerabilities to the detriment of the organization. An excellent proffessional's handbook

This is definitely an excellent reference book on the security systems subject. I especially liked to see sections on TCP/IP and wireless communications, which are typically not areas of expertise of a security systems specialist (even some younger ones).
Maximum value for money, I must say.

The one objection I have is the misaligned print in the first 100 pages or so. But this definitely has nothing to do with the contents. The book is entirely readable, that's important.

An Outstanding Book

This is simply the best book on security system design available. It has it all, from the history and evolution of electronic security to designing the most advanced enterprise integrated security systems in the world. All elements of security system design are here, including definitions, technology, roles and responsibilities of design team members, and most importantly, how they all work together. This book will become the standard on security systems design. I highly recommend it for security professionals and students.

Sources that offer a progressive history across the full spectrum of security systems development while pointing the way toward the future development of the security systems marketplace. This book is one of those references. Tom Norman's easy to read style and cohesive organizational structure mean this text brings clarity to the issues at hand. A security professional will be better able to articulate a cogent understanding of the complicated world of security systems than he or she was prior to the benefit of Ton's guidance. Keep a copy in your office. It is a great argument ender.

This is proven by the fact that the word brunch, which is one of the most widely known blends, was first recorded in 1896 - more than 100 years ago (Quinion 2014). However, only over the last couple of decades has blending become a very popular word-formation process. Today, in the English lexicon a large number of blends can be found which are no longer recognized as such since they have been in everyday use for quite a long time (Katamba 1994: 184). This can be explained by the fact that blends tend to be abbreviations in the beginning and, due to their word-like appearance, are lexicalized over time (Hadžiahmetović-Jurida 2006: 283). Although blending plays a significant role in terms of word-formation, it is hardly mentioned in monographs focusing on this particular aspect of morphology. This paper aims to explore the rules that determine the creation of blends as well as to have a closer look on two ways of categorizing them.

Prior to entering the ministry, Brian graduated from Drury University in 1986 with a B.A. in business administration. Brian spent twenty years in the tennis industry and earned an international ranking on the European Satellite and Challenger circuits. As a teacher, coach, and executive director, he has managed tennis clubs, trained hundreds of instructors, conducted clinics with other professional players, and provided personal coaching to many well-known people. Brian and his wife, Beth, are graduates of Rhema Bible Training Center, where Brian worked in the Healing School and at the Prayer and Healing Center for Kenneth Hagin Ministries. They have been on staff at two churches in Virginia. Brian serves as a guest instructor at Living Water Teaching in Guatemala and at Rhema Bible Training Center-Colombia in Colombia.They are members of Rhema Ministerial Association International, International Convention of Faith Ministers, and the Worship Center Ministers' Fellowship. An Amazing Miraculous Story; Some Questionable Teachings

I recommend you read this book. The story is 5+ stars. Some troubling teachings among many good teachings lead to my 3-star rating.

The author's story of his experience overcoming cancer and the treatment for cancer takes the reader's breath away. It is a page-turner revealing faith in God through intense suffering and opposition. All readers will benefit from reading it and will gain a hunger for faith. The story and the teachings that follow provide some concrete spiritual disciplines that correlate to health and healing: meditating on and declaring Scripture as authoritative, intense and earnest prayer, intercession, forgiveness, tithing, Christian fellowship, spiritual warfare and hearing God's voice and obeying him.

The author elaborates on these topics in the several chapters that follow. He provides many Scriptures dealing with healing and faith. He also teaches many principles that are excellent and right for all Christians. However, I am troubled by many of the imperatives and statements of fact that he makes that are simply not the gospel message or Scriptural. These troubling messages may be inspired by his own experience but are not necessarily normative for all Christians, as the author teaches quite emphatically. I think the author lacks nuance and precision when it comes to exegeting Scripture and interpreting it. He moves between Scriptures and opinions without differentiation.

Some examples of a few troubling statements that I think readers need to notice:
"To be healed, you must receive a personal revelation of Jesus the Healer" -- This precludes God healing someone as a response to intercessory prayer or God's grace. I think it is great for people to receive such a revelation but God transcends this imperative.

"God will become to you who you declare him to be." This is ridiculous. God is who he is regardless of what I declare. I earnestly seek to know him and worship him in truth, but he is who he is.

"If you have received a negative report from the doctor, you don't have to receive that report." and "Don't consider the doctor's report or how your body feels or looks." Even Jesus acknowledged people's diagnoses and their symptoms, receiving a medical report and taking it seriously does not mean you lack faith or that God will not heal it. There is a place for wisdom that the author rejects with these statements. The imperative here is too broad and emphatic (maybe exchange negative pronosis for report). I understand the high view of Scripture and "calling things that are not as though they are" and "letting God be true and every man a liar" but these do not demand what the author demands.

"When you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you will receive a new prayer language." Like the apostle Paul, I wish that everyone prayed in tongues, and although, I am Pentecostal and believe in all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, this statement is not Scriptural and cannot be substantiated as a matter of fact, as the author states it.

Statements such as the above ought to be challenged by readers and not indiscriminately accepted along with the Scriptures and MANY good teachings of the author. I write these criticisms as one who believes in healing and has a history with it and have read an assortment of books on healing.

The author's story and his excitement and passion make this book a worthy read for all people. He brings to life many Scriptures that support the main theme that God is our healer and that on the cross Jesus purchased our healing redeeming us from the curse of sin and death. I only wish he was not so dogmatic on non-Scriptural assertions.

Review of 10 Hours to Live: A book by Brian Wills

Brian Will's book,10 HOURS TO LIVE is a MUST HAVE book for every person seeking miraculous healing or seeking to learn about healing through Bible principles! After reading many, many books on the subject of receiving devine healing, I would give this book an A+ when it comes to teaching those struggling to be healed of incureable diseases How to be tenacious in the face of the grimmest circumstances of illness and How to OVERCOME any illness through the power of the Word of God, the Bible. When even doctors tried again and again to discourage Brian from resisting the overwhelming desire to just give up and die, Brian showed how he used healing scriptures, prayer, and praise plus an intense will to live to overcome premature death.

I CHALLENGE those who have been taught that "God gives illness" or that "It was just God's will for so and so to die young" or that "God heals some and doesn't heal others" to read this book and see if it was God's fault that someone got sick or died. Perhaps the Christian church has watered down the Real TRUTH of God's Word on healing just to justify people's dying young? Readers, as you read through Brian's actual testimony, ask youself What Is MY Part in receiving healing.

Brian's intense determination, his WILL to use Bible principles to live and fight off the sickness that Jesus Christ has already paid for with His BLOOD on the Cross-That is why Brian is still alive over 20 years later. I and many in my family have also been healed miraculously by using the same principles taught in Brian's book. IT WORKS! Just don't give up! "The game's not over until it's over"!!!

Thank you Brian for kindling the flames of my faith once again in the area of healing. I haven't been this excited about a book in years!

Compelling Read

This is a well written book based on Brian's personal experience with terminal cancer. It gives hope to others who are faced with such a grave diagnosis. Brian used his personal faith and belief that God would heal him and he surrounded himself with scriptures on healing, positive reinforcement from family, visualization and many others ways to overcome his adversity. What I found incredulous was how he was surrounded by negative doctors and nurses and managed to remain focused on being healed by God and not let their macabre demeanor affect him. This was a truly inspirational book that I feel should be made into a movie. Well done Brian! You've inspired me to never give up no matter what!!
