Can people from two worlds combine to find love

Kelda a Viking sailed to America to pay a debt for her adopted father. Thoruald had married an Iroquois maiden thirty years ago and she stayed with her people. She brings a gift he sent but is captured by the leader Brander. He is the son of Thoruald and neither knows the other.Kelda and Brander have a clash of their cultures . Brander's son is living with Thoruald found by the Vilkings not knowing who he is.
Zelda wil trick Brander and along with his mother return to Viking land. The problem even though they love one another will he stay or go back to living with the Indians . Wild Flower has found Thoruald and wants to stay with him.. I liked the book ok but probably will never read again . I think I got a little bored waiting for Brander to make up his mind

Great Historical Read

"Viking Captive" is one of my favorite novels by Emma Merritt. Not only was Merritt extremely detailed with her historical information, but she also wove a beautiful love story that centers around two extremely conflicting characters. Kelda, a viking warrior and leader, travels to North America in search of her chief's possible lost child and to also pay a blood debt to the Norse cheif who had raised her as his own. She is captured and enslaved by an arrogant war cheif known as Brander--who Kelda knows is part Norse because of his build and his hair color. As Brander's slave, Kelda must decide how to deal with her attraction to such a captivating man and find a way to get away from him and back to her home. Kelda fights her feelings for Brander physically and emotionally, and swears that if Brander wants anything from her, he will have to take it by force. The book then describes some of the battles that Kelda not only fights with Brander but with the way of life of the Indians that she is forced to live amoungst. She befriends Brander's mother (who also happened to be in love with Kelda's Norse Cheif long ago...hint..hint) and aquaints herself with a few of Brander's warriors. Another interesting part in the novel is the conflict of how Brander will "brand" Kelda as his slave (Even though he doesn't treat her as a slave, he still must physically "mark" her as his so that no one else will hurt her).

I absolutely loved this book. There's something about a sexy half-blood warrior with a chauvanistic attitude that I can't resist. Along with Kelda's wit and strong will to add the love and spontaneity that we all hope to find one day, this book proved to be quite a page turner. If you find it, keep it, because this kind of historical romance is few and far between.

NOTE: Due to the period of time that this book was written, it has the simple, historical writings of most books written in the 1980's...some/little sex (it's a steamy book since Merritt wrote it)...lots of action...lots of historical facts.

I've read Sandra Hill and other authors Viking stories and been quite happy with them but this book was never more than just okay. Kelda, the adopted daughter of a Viking Chief sails to find his half Iriqois son who he wishes to take over as chief when he dies. The problem is when Kelda and her men arrive, they are treated as prisoners and she finds out the chief's son Brander wants nothing to do with the Vikings. When she finds a way to bring Brander and his mother to the Viking camp, it is for Brander to discover that another man is bethrothed to Kelda and is being groomed to take over when the leader dies.

I think my biggest problem with this book is the way the dialoge reads, you viking, I am a great Iriqois, etc....Its predictable and sometimes a little silly but not boring.

Joel is a positive pastor that continues to help me lift my soul

I have been listening to Joel Osteen for many years and really need a CD I could listen to in the car. My brother recommended this and I am so looking forward to listening to it while driving to work each day. It is hard in this world to be positive and Joel does a great job of ministering God's word to make me smile a little more each day....

I also got the CD much sooner then I expected, awesome!

Not as Exciting as I had hoped,

These are recorded teachings Joel Osteen gave on tv. At the beginning of each lesson, he gives a statement, a declaration to say each day. His voice for the intro of lessons is different than when he preaches.
During his preaching, he gives 4,5 or 6 negative examples, as things the devil, or you might say to yourself - then gives one positive example. I had hoped this would be full of positive and only a little negative.
I think many people can benefit from this. I know the things he is saying here, I am looking for a cd that will declare the positive thoughts (only) So I can listen to it daily, over and over, to help get my mind set on the positive things. For me personally, this is a 2 star product, but I'm sure some people can benefit, so I give it 3 stars.

About the Author

Dr. Eve Shapiro is assistant professor of sociology at Westfield State College. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and has published in a number of journals including Gender & Society, Sexualities, and the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Social Services. Her current research elaborates the dynamic relationships between identity and community, including how new information and biomedical technologies are changing the gendered lives of cisgender and transgender individuals.

Very simple for beginners!

I really like this book. I do take a great interest in programming, but this is my first book on Python programming. I liked the fact that all the information is laid out a clear, accessible and understandable for the beginner. I think I learned a lot of useful information. Easy Programming

I have always found computer programming both interesting and slightly off putting at the same time. Off putting, because like trying to learn a foreign language it is something I find it daunting. The really nice thing about this book is that it demystifies the whole process of programming, and using Python, gives very specific examples right at the outset of what you can do with it as a language. It goes on to give very clear and specific steps, of what is quite a technical process, but allows you to get a fairly could grasp an understanding of how to program. Given that it is a book, this means that you can continually refer back to it and use it at your own pace and do it in your own time, really useful.

Richard Collier is a former Director of the Electronic Engineering Laboratory at the University of Kent, and a former Senior Research Associate and Affiliated Lecturer at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the IET.

A fresh approach to transmission lines

I have well over a dozen books covering transmission lines and waveguides at hand, some of them being quite similar to one another. But as the author suggests in the preface, this one is indeed a bit different.

It is nice to start the book with pulse propagation. There are so many illustrative examples. Also, I could find topics that aren't usually discussed in most other book (such as low-frequency characteristics of transmission lines) and numerous illuminating observations throughout the book.

Regarding Part 3 of the book, Transmission Lines and Photons, I did think photons didn't feature as much as anticipated, as the author himself admits (in Section 7.8). But still those chapters were thought-provoking and I liked them.

Overall, the book is highly readable and shows the author's lasting enthusiasm for the subject. I can recommend it to anybody wishing to learn or already familiar with transmission lines and waveguides.

Great text. It got me through my University of Florida International Relations class without a hitch. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in the topic. Very thorough however you can tell it is slightly biased as it is written from a constructivist point of view. That being said, it still does a very good job of of describing different theoretical perspectives.
